McCain defended the commander of US troops in Afghanistan after the criticism of Trump, reports the Voice of America.
"General John Nicholson serves the country 35 years. He received the trust and recognition of those with whom he served.
He deserved my complete confidence, "the senator said, adding that" our high-ranking commanders, and not field commanders, are responsible for the failure of politics in Afghanistan ".
He also promised to submit his strategy for the 16-year war: "I call on the president to settle misunderstandings in the administration rather quickly and make a decision about the policy and strategy by which our national security interests can be achieved in Afghanistan and the region".
Recall, as reported URA-Inform, McCain is ready to return to work in the Senate.
