Venezuela sums up the popular referendum

In the framework of the vote organized by the country's opposition, the voters had to answer whether they want an early presidential election in Venezuela. Almost 7.2 million people voted against the convening of the constituent assembly of Venezuela.

According to local media, such figures were voiced by representatives of the opposition. The question of whether the voters supported the draft amendments to the constitution of the country and the convocation of a constituent assembly for this purpose, initiated by President Nicholas Maduro.

Maduro himself agreed to hold a popular referendum, but called for it to be held peacefully and in a calm atmosphere.

The authorities, however, warned that the results of the referendum will not be valid, since it is held without the approval of legislators.

Recall, the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Venezuela decided to allow Maduro to convene a constituent assembly without holding a referendum, for which the opposition.

As reported by URA-Inform, on Wednesday evening, July 5, the Venezuelan parliament was attacked by the supporters of President Nicolas Maduro. As a result of the incident, there are victims.
