South Korea invited the DPRK to resume talks on a military line in order to reduce tensions. The meeting could take place on the North Korean side of the town of Panmujom on the demarcation line, said on Monday, July 17, South Korea's Defense Minister Su Cho Suk. A representative of the South Korean Defense Ministry said that a response from Pyongyang has not yet been issued. The last such talks were held in 2015, notes DW.

Also, it is not yet clear what the negotiations will be about.

As a possible topic is the cessation of mutual propaganda in the border area using megaphones. South Korean media reported that it was also proposed to resume contacts between organizations of the Red Cross of South and North Korea.

Since the beginning of last year, North Korea, despite international sanctions, conducted two nuclear tests and numerous test launches of missiles. The last time the launch of the intercontinental missile of the DPRK was held on July 4.
