On Wednesday, July 12, People's Deputies adopted in the first reading the bill No. 6149 "On Amending the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine in connection with the ratification of the 3rd Additional Protocol and the 4th Additional Protocol to the European Convention on the Extradition of Offenders". For the document voted 241 deputies.

However, the changes proposed by the document are aimed at improving the existing procedure for the extradition of offenders from Ukraine, which are sought by the competent authorities of a foreign country for pre-trial investigation or for the execution of a sentence.

When accepting the proposed changes, a person receives the right to apply for a simplified procedure for issuing him immediately after being detained in connection with being on the international wanted list, without waiting for a formal request for extradition.

In the explanatory documents to the draft it is said that this will make it possible to shorten the term of such a person in custody on the territory of Ukraine with the purpose of extradition to another state.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Wednesday, July 11, adopted as a basis and as a whole the bill No. 0152 "On the ratification of the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Police Office on operational and strategic cooperation".
