The people of Turkey prevented a military coup attempt by proving their unity with the government, Turkish Interior Minister Suleiman Soilu told reporters on Tuesday, Trend reports from Ankara.

On Tuesday, events began in Ankara on the occasion of the anniversary of the attempted coup in Turkey, undertaken on the night of 15 to 16 July last year. The events are attended by political leaders of the country.

From 11 to 16 July in 81 provinces of Turkey there will be events dedicated to this date, the main of which will be held in Ankara and Istanbul, where monuments to the victims of the rebels will be opened. Special sessions will be held in the country's parliament.
