Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman said that today it is necessary to find the right solutions for Russia to return to its borders and stop using weapons against Ukraine. The Head of Government announced this today during a meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, reports UNN.
"We understand that what happened on the part of Russia causes huge threats to the lives of civilians in the territory that is temporarily occupied. We see what is happening on the territory of the annexed Ukrainian Crimea with human rights. We see 1 million 700 thousand. Forcibly displaced persons. This all means that we should be together. We must find the right solutions for Russia to return to its borders and stop using weapons against a democratic, peaceful Ukraine, "the Prime Minister stressed..
Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman invited the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to increase the amount of humanitarian aid to Ukraine or introduce new mechanisms for solving problems.
"I want to thank you for the high level of trust in our cooperation in humanitarian matters. We highly value humanitarian assistance. Perhaps we would need to touch upon the question of how to increase the size of this aid or introduce new mechanisms for solving the problems that we are having, "he said..
Groisman also noted that Ukraine and the United Nations are solving humanitarian problems due to the fact that Russia has decided not to observe any norms of international law, to not respect the sovereignty and unleash a war against the democratic world, in particular, against Ukraine.
Ukrainians are a people endowed with unique qualities, which evokes deep respect. This was said by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres during a meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groisman.
Guterres also promised to do everything in his power to establish peace in Ukraine.
The Secretary General thanked B. Groisman at the meeting and noted that his visit has not only political but also emotional content.
"I am the UN Secretary-General and in this sense I do not have a nationality, but I come from Portugal and in this sense I have very close ties and high respect for the Ukrainian people. When I became prime minister, the Ukrainian community in Portugal was significant. I am proud that with colleagues, we put forward the initiative of legalizing these communities. But this is a unique, extraordinary people, having unique qualities and able to integrate very quickly. Now, when I return to my country, I do not notice the abyss between the Portuguese and Ukrainians. I appreciate the qualities of this people, "said A. Guterres.
He noted that this emotional component is very important.
"I express solidarity with the Ukrainian people in those times when he suffers so much. As the UN Secretary General, I have limited opportunities, but what I can do - I will do to ensure peace and prosperity of the Ukrainian people, its independence and territorial integrity, "said the UN Secretary-General.
Guterres stressed that he calls for a complete cessation of hostilities.
