The first (and, as it is now clear, the best) years of my life I spent in a deaf, unremarkable village on the edge of the Ryazan region. In addition to other understandable joys of rural life - forests, rivers, native spaces without a border, and everything that is a bit awkward in the age of postmodernism to admire, but why not admire - there was also a library. Every week new books appeared in the library. And the old ones were enough. Simple life tends to ritualization, and every Sunday I took a specially made grandmother's bag for books and went to the library - read back, unread.

There is, however, a desire to be objective, which means that it must be said: the free market, as it was understood and built by the architects of the new Russia, was also slightly cannibalistic and gloriously trampled on the cultural infrastructure, especially in the regions. Especially in small and unremarkable settlements like the one where my childhood passed. Instead of a cinema there, for example, ruins. But the library survived. They generally almost universally survived. Without state generosity, but at the expense of the selflessness of ridiculous old women-librarians. And yet - in part - due to various non-state programs to support them.

If you watch Russian TV (I hope, however, that do not look, I do this from time to time for business reasons, and for sure these experiments are not without consequences for the psyche, and milk for the harm from the bosses will not be interrogated), so, if you Suddenly something for the sake of watching Russian TV, you know for sure that this is a terrible man - George Soros. The shaker of world markets, the destroyer of state sovereignties, the insidious enemy, through the distribution of grants and the publication of textbooks, tried to weaken our defenses.
