During a closed meeting at the G20 summit, US and Russian presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin agreed on a ceasefire in southwestern Syria, AP reported citing US officials.

This decision of the presidents will be announced in the near future. Sources also noted that they are not authorized to discuss this topic in public, and agreed to talk with the media only on condition of anonymity.

The talks between Putin and Trump lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes, although the White House earlier reported that the duration of this meeting would be about 30 minutes.

Before the meeting within six minutes, both presidents, in the presence of foreign ministers Sergey Lavrov and Rex Tillerson, as well as translators, exchanged several replicas. So, Trump stated that it is a great honor for him to meet with his Russian counterpart. The American president also expressed hope for a positive outcome of the meeting. Putin, in turn, said that he was glad to get to know Trump personally and also expressed the hope that the meeting would bring positive results.
