Former US ambassador to Ukraine, John Herbst, believes that the chances of providing American lethal weapons to our country are growing.

He stated this in an interview with "Apostrophe".

Herbst said that US President Donald Trump wants to improve relations with Russia, and Ukraine in this regard is a significant problem. And to persuade Russia to compromise, the United States can strengthen Ukraine.

Also, according to the diplomat, Trump himself understands that the Russian Federation must stop military actions against Ukraine. Herbst added that the provision of lethal weapons to Ukraine will not provoke even more aggression of the Kremlin.

"[...] the Russian people do not want their soldiers to fight in Ukraine. Therefore, Putin should hide the fact that Russian official servicemen are not "on vacation", but are really fighting in Ukraine. And if he arranges an escalation, all this will be seen, there will be more casualties among Russian soldiers, "said the diplomat.
