Putin fired a bunch of key security officials

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree dismissing several heads of law enforcement agencies in the regions of Russia. The document is posted on the official portal of the legal information of the Russian Federation. The decree says that Putin dismissed the head of the investigation department of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Leningrad region Alexei Mayakov, deputy head of the Interior Ministry of the Sverdlovsk Region Vladimir Romanyuk, the head of the FSIN for the Moscow region Anatoly Tikhomirov. Also from the post was released West Siberian transport prosecutor Sergei Feoktistov.

In addition, the new head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (State Road Safety Inspectorate, - Ed.. ) Russia appointed Mikhail Chernikov, who previously held the post of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Khabarovsk Territory. Immediately after the resignation in late March of the former head of the department of Viktor Nilov, Chernikov, who had worked in the traffic police for several decades, was called one of the main candidates for the vacant post.
