Putin said that he considers Medvedchuk a Ukrainian nationalist. Although the latter does not like such a definition, he considers himself an enlightened patriot of Ukraine.

In addition, Putin told the people the story of the Medvedchuk family, in which he told that his friend's father was an active activist of the OUN, was convicted by a Soviet court, was imprisoned and exiled to exile, where Medvedchuk was born in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Also, according to him, Medvedchuk has his own system of views on Ukraine's independence. At the same time, Putin noted that his kum is "for a very good relationship with Russia, if not for an alliance of some kind, then for economic integration".

Rana URA-Inform reported that Putin said that he would "protect" the Crimea to the last.
