Khmelnitsky district court sentenced the Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on June 6, who in September 2014 wanted to steal the plane to Russia. This is reported by the Left Bank.

The case was reviewed in court. The first time the major was sentenced to 11 years in prison, but on procedural grounds the decision of the Starokonstantinovsky court did not come into force and a new trial was appointed, the press office of the military prosecutor's office said..

On the second attempt, the military was found guilty of high treason (h. 1 st. 111 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment. He also took the rank of "major".

The court concluded that the serviceman intentionally handed over to the representatives of the Russian Federation statements with state secrets, namely, full information about the flight plan for the military reconnaissance aircraft Su-24MR. During the special flight on September 8, he evaded the planned course in the Shostka area and sent the aircraft to the state border with Russia.

However, having failed to get in touch with the Russians and not being able to independently reach the airfields on the territory of the Russian Federation, the pilot was forced to land the plane in Mirgorod.

After that, he was removed from the flights and soon detained.

The enlisted major, a native of Khabarovsk, was deputy commander of the 3rd Squadron of the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade. During the trial, witnesses said that he supported the annexation of the Crimea, negatively related to the conduct of the ATU and actually sabotaged the conduct of reconnaissance flights.

In Russia, he has a brother - a retired colonel of the Russian Armed Forces, and now a priest. In June 2014, he came to Ukraine and offered to steal a plane for money. Later, to make the pilot think faster, his wife and daughter were detained in Russia, who came to visit relatives. For three weeks they were forcibly kept in hotels in Moscow and St.

Petersburg.

At this time, the Russian intelligence officer contacted the pilot, who acted under the pseudonym "The Chief Doctor", proposing for the hijacking of the aircraft the rank of colonel of the Armed Forces of Russia, housing and 30 thousand. USD. At the same time, he threatened that his wife and daughter would be used. The Ukrainian pilot agreed to this proposal.

It was planned that he would cross the border by plane and land him in Kursk.
