Thus today Montenegro officially became the 29th member of the Alliance. The ceremonial transfer of the act was held by the US State Department.
The ceremony was attended by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic.
At the same time, the State Department noted that already on June 7, the flag of Montenegro will be raised at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.
Recall, the procedure for the transfer of the act of joining NATO from the country - a new member of the alliance for storage to the US government is enshrined in the North Atlantic Treaty.
As reported URA-Inform, May 19, 2016, NATO countries signed a protocol on the accession of Montenegro to the alliance. Parliament approved the law on the membership of the republic in NATO.
