Head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker said that the future of Ukraine is Europe, welcoming the ratification of the agreement on the association of Ukraine and the EU in the Senate of the Netherlands. This is reported by LIGA with reference to the website of the European Commission.

According to Juncker, today's vote demonstrates an important signal from the Netherlands and the entire European Union to Ukraine.

The head of the European Commission hopes that the process of ratification of the agreement will be fully completed for the Ukraine-EU summit, which will be held in July this year.

On May 30 the Senate of the Netherlands approved the agreement on the Ukraine-EU association.

On April 6, 2016, at an advisory referendum in the Netherlands, the majority of citizens voted against the ratification of the Ukraine-EU agreement. After reacting to the results of the people's will, the authorities declared the need to find a compromise between the wishes of the Dutch and the foreign policy course of the EU.
