The administration of US President Donald Trump has radically changed his position on Ukraine.
This was reported by The Washington Post two high-ranking US officials.
So, if in March Trump, at a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, told her that the crisis in Ukraine is the responsibility of Europe and the US will not actively participate in its settlement, now the White House intends to intervene in the solution of the problem.
In particular, the Trump administration wants to restart negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine.
This may be for Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to launch a disrupted plan to improve US-Russian relations. At the same time, the publication notes, Tillerson's idea is still at the initial stages.
In addition, it is reported that Tillerson plans to appoint a special envoy to the State Department, who will be responsible for new efforts in matters relating to Ukraine.
The Washington Post writes that European officials, in turn, support such intentions of the US President Administration.
