Thus, according to the adopted document, the Ukrainian version of the name of the settlement has been amended and now the name of the city sounds Mukacheve instead of Mukacheve. The Russian version remained unchanged, - the text of the resolution says..
However, in the explanatory note to the resolution, the renaming of the city was initiated by its residents in connection with the need to correct the error that occurred when assigning the name to a settlement after the entry of the territory of the present Transcarpathian region into the Ukrainian SSR.
Recall that in March last year the Mukacheve City Council of the Transcarpathian region at a regular session supported the decision to rename the city.
As reported URA-Inform, this decision was taken because of disagreements between the official name of the city and local accounting.
