Turkish court denied opposition in revision of referendum results

Thus, the court rejected the claim of the opposition People's Republican Party. According to the Turkish NTV television channel, the judge said that the party's claims can not be considered in the framework of administrative proceedings.

The edition also reminds that the People's Republican Party demanded from the Supreme Electoral Council recounting 60% of the ballots.

Let us remind you that the referendum, which provided for amendments to the Constitution of Turkey, was held on April 16. Amendments supported 51% of the population of Turkey.

Changes that relate to the expansion of the president's powers in the areas of amending the Constitution of the country, the formation of the government and the budget, supported 51% of the country's population.

As reported URA-Inform, Turkey held thousands of protests against the results of the referendum. About a thousand demonstrators gathered in the Besiktas area in the European part of Istanbul, then on the Asian side gathered about two thousand protesters. Protests with fewer participants were also held in Ankara, Izmir and other cities.
