The death of a member of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in the uncontrolled territory of the Lugansk region is a tragic reminder of the need for progress in the peaceful resolution of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Policy Federic Mogerini said on Sunday, April 23.

In her statement, the head of European diplomacy also said that she contacted the OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier and agreed with him to maintain close contact with the situation in eastern Ukraine.

"The strict implementation of the Minsk Agreements remains the basis for a long-term solution that respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," Magerini stressed..

She also noted that "without proper and unhindered monitoring of the mission there can be no reliable and reliable improvement of security, which is the basis for the political process of the peace process".

Recall that Magerini today, April 24, for the first time with an official visit to visit Moscow, where, at a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister plans, among other things, to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
