New amphibious ship entered the arsenal of the Turkish Navy

The amphibious amphibious ship of domestic production Bayraktar, built within the framework of the LST (Landing Ship Tank) project, went into service with the Turkish Navy, Trend reports with reference to Anadolu.

Minister of National Security Fikri Ishik, speaking at the ceremony of transfer of the vessel, said that Turkey is among the 10 countries in the world that are able to design and build military vessels on their own.

In 2011, the Turkish Defense Industry Secretariat signed an agreement with the Turkish company HAVELSAN on the implementation of the LST project, within the framework of which it was planned to build amphibious ships for the country's Navy.

Bayraktar - the first of two ships built within the framework of this project.

Bayraktar is able to withstand atomic, biological and chemical attacks. The length of the ship is 139, the width is 19.

6 meters, the displacement is 7254 tons. The ship is 71% equipped with domestic technology.

Bayraktar is able to deliver ashore immediately 1200 tons of cargo or several tanks, armored vehicles and other vehicles.

The duration of the vessel's autonomous navigation is 30 days, and it can pass more than five thousand nautical miles without refueling.

The second amphibious amphibious ship Sancaktar, built within the framework of this project, was launched on July 17, 2016.
