With the appropriate appeal, the CEC appealed to the Verkhovna Rada committees on state construction, regional policy and local self-government and on legal policy and justice. The commission wants to know the possibilities of appointing local elections in certain territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

As reported by the press service of the CEC on April 20, the commission, if it is possible to nominate such elections, asks for an urgent legislative settlement of the problematic issues that may arise during the organization of preparation and conduct of such local elections and the replacement of deputies of local councils.

The commission also explained that they receive numerous appeals about the possibility of appointing and holding such elections in certain territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, where on October 25, 2015, the next local elections were not scheduled or held.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, previously Deputy Minister for Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine Georgy Tuka noted that the holding of local elections in the occupied territory of Donbass under the laws of Ukraine can take place in a year, provided that the Kremlin will give an appropriate instruction to the militants.
