Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko, during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Planning, explained the reasons for submitting her resignation. According to her, the decision is related to the need to update the government and strengthen work in certain areas, as previously stated by President Vladimir Zelensky. Suspilne reports this.

Sviridenko noted that the head of state emphasized the need to improve the efficiency of the Cabinet of Ministers, paying special attention to social and educational policy. She emphasized that these areas have significant potential for improving the implementation of government programs and require additional strengthening.

The head of government also recalled the challenges that the Cabinet of Ministers had to face during her work. She noted that this period was accompanied by public protests after the appointment of a new government, a difficult winter, uncertainty regarding international funding, as well as a fuel crisis. Despite this, according to her, the government managed to pass all the tests and ensure the stable functioning of the state.

Sviridenko emphasized that she supports the decision to update the government, since in conditions of a full-scale war it is especially important to strengthen the social direction. She noted that the state must continue to support the most vulnerable categories of the population, internally displaced persons and residents of front-line regions, while maintaining social unity.

Meanwhile, the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada has already supported the Prime Minister’s resignation letter. According to people's deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the corresponding decision was supported by 16 committee members. The final decision on resignation must be made by parliament during a vote in the session hall.

Let us remind you that pressure on Russia must be increased, Zelensky said. Every day of delay in sanctions decisions means additional time for Russia to prepare for new restrictions.
