The side collision of a private quarry diesel locomotive with an Intercity+ passenger train on the Kyiv – Przemysl route was due to the fault of the diesel locomotive driver. Ukrzaliznytsia reported this on Saturday, April 18.
“Preliminarily, we can state that the side collision of a diesel locomotive owned by a private quarry was due to the fault of the driver, who ran a prohibitory signal in front of the passenger Intercity+. A thorough investigation continues, the damaged train is already being inspected by specialists from Ukrzaliznytsia and Hyundai Rotem,” the statement says..
It is noted that this event will not affect the volume of traffic: the reserve train will close the “gap”, no flight cancellations are planned.
All 576 Intercity+ passengers transferred to a reserve high-speed train that arrived from Kyiv.
“Flight 715 to Przemysl will be expedited as much as possible on the way and at the border, we will try to comply with all transfers as much as possible,” Ukrzaliznytsia assured.
As reported, today in the Vinnytsia region at the Brailov station there was a side collision between a diesel locomotive and an Intercity+ passenger train. Passengers and railway workers were not injured.
