Ukrainians continue to receive pensions and other social benefits. Liquidators of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and victims have the right to receive disability pensions. The PFU explained that a disability pension is awarded to participants in the liquidation of the accident and other citizens when a causal connection between the disability and the Chernobyl accident is established..
In Ukraine, pensions for persons with disabilities due to the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant are set at the following levels:.
Group I - 25950.00 UAH (10 minimum pensions);
Group II - 20,760.00 UAH (eight minimum pensions);
III group - 15570.00 UAH (six minimum pensions);
children - 7785.00 UAH (three minimum pensions).
The Fund noted that in 2026, the indexation of pensions for liquidators and victims of the Chernobyl accident took place; this year the increase rate was 12.1%.
The PFU added that for liquidators of the Chernobyl accident (category 1 and with disabilities that are associated specifically with the disaster) there is no limit on the size of the maximum pension, like a regular pension.
“The amount of payment depends on earnings during liquidation, the amount of insurance coverage, the use of a special formula (individually, sometimes calculated at 5 times the minimum wage) and additional payments for harm to health,” the Fund summarized.
