Family leave without pay: how long can it last?

Labor relations between employer and employee in Ukraine are regulated by relevant legislation. Even during martial law, Ukrainians can go on vacation. Specialists from the South-Eastern Interregional Department of the State Labor Service told us how long unpaid leave for family reasons can last.

Derzhpratsi explained that in accordance with Article 84 of the Labor Code of Ukraine, for family reasons, an employee may be granted leave without pay for a period determined by agreement between the employee and the employer, but not more than 30 calendar days a year.



Experts added that the time spent on such leave is not counted towards the length of service giving the right to annual basic leave..
