A pedestrian crossing has opened at the Uzhgorod-Vyshne-Niemecke checkpoint on the border with Slovakia. The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories reported this on Telegram.

" The decision was implemented in a short time thanks to intergovernmental agreements between Ukraine and the Slovak Republic,"

Deputy Minister of Development of Communities and Territories Sergei Derkach noted that in the first days almost 4,000 people used the crossing.

The Ministry of Development notes that this is only part of a broader package of decisions on the development of border infrastructure. In particular, preparations are underway for the construction of a passenger terminal (which should increase the throughput of the border crossing point by 20%), and it is planned to increase the carrying capacity of the Maly Berezny – Ublya point.

Currently, work is also ongoing on an agreement on joint customs and border control and reduction of border crossing times.
