Over two years, the number of men of mobilization age detained during illegal attempts to cross the Ukrainian border with Belarus increased 356 times. If in 2023 border guards recorded only four such cases, then in 2025 their number increased to 1,424.

According to Assistant Chairman of the State Border Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko, the total number of detentions on the border with Belarus remains lower than on the border with Romania or Moldova, but the pace is growing.

The State Border Guard Service clarified that in 2024, 326 men were detained on the border with Belarus, and in 2025 their number increased fourfold. Investigators calculated that among all the countries with which Ukraine borders, the Belarusian direction showed the greatest growth, in particular by 336% compared to 2023.

The overall ranking of illegal border crossing destinations in 2025 shows that Belarus entered the top five, ahead of Poland. The most detentions are on the border with Romania - 10,066 people.
