On the eve of Christmas Eve, the YouTube channel “Total: Nazhivo” hosted the premiere of a unique archival video: hundreds of voices of Lviv residents and guests of the city merged in unison during the performance of the ancient carol “Oh in the field in the field the Cherry stood”. The recording was made three years ago in the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul with the participation of singer and folklore researcher Ulyana Gorbachevskaya and the creative formation "
The winter of 2022 will be remembered by Ukrainians for massive rocket attacks and blackouts. It was during this tense time that the Kolo Rayu project was born in the very heart of Lviv..
“Then the city became a kind of hub for Ukrainians from different regions: some moved for the sake of safety, some became migrants because of the danger of living further in their hometowns, and some were preparing to go abroad or, conversely, to go to the front. Everyone was united by a common grief - a full-scale war launched by Russia,” they note in the description.

The team shares: this recording was deliberately kept in the archive for more than two years, waiting for a special time.
“This is the third year of a full-scale war and we again celebrate Christmas in the dark, persistently searching for the light within ourselves. At a time when it is important not to lose the unity that held us in the beginning, the voice of hundreds of people in the Lviv temple sounds, reminding us: we already know how to defeat darkness and we are doing it together. Our strength is in unity,” adds the team of “Total: Profit,” a project in support of the Special Operations Forces Resistance Movement, which joined the publication of the archive.
" It was a feeling: \! " — The carol “Oh, there was a cherry in the field” belongs to the most ancient layer of Ukrainian folklore.
Its peculiarity is its meditative, cyclic chant, which, when performed en masse, creates a strong sound vibration. During the recording in the Garrison Temple, the voices of professional performers and random passers-by merged into the so-called “white sound” - an archaic style of singing that has long been considered a talisman. For many present, this singing became a form of therapy."
The recording was made possible thanks to the YMCA Lviv organization.
