The Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (SAC MOU) announced a possible crime by officials of the defense department during the purchase of body armor. The corresponding application to NABU on Wednesday, November 26, was submitted by the head of the council, Yuriy Gudimenko, and his deputy Tatyana Nikolaenko, the OAS MOU reports on Facebook. The document refers to possible abuse by officials of the Ministry of Defense, in particular the State Operator of Logistics (DOT), during tenders with the participation of the companies LLC Fortetsya Zakhistu and LLC Milikon UA. The OAS MOU noted that this case is part of large-scale transactions that are being investigated by anti-corruption authorities as part of the so-called Minditchgate, where former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov appears on the tapes. According to Tatyana Nikolaenko, the statement sets out all the known details regarding the purchase of body armor from the Milikon company, identified during the study of the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (NACO). In particular, DOT first recognized Fortetsya Zakhista as the winner without the necessary license, and then “for unknown reasons” canceled the tender. For the second time, the DOT recognized the Milikon UA \u200b\u200bcompany as the winner, even without its own sample of body armor. The signing of the contract was not stopped by the order of the State Audit Service and the lawsuit lost in court. “The coincidence of such a number of violations from one supplier is too rare to be considered an accident,” Nikolaenko emphasized. SLA MOU also provided NABU with information about the company’s possible connections with Israeli citizen Chaim Brenig. The Council expects that the documents provided will contribute to an objective examination of this procurement as part of Operation Midas. Let us remind you that on November 10, NABU and SAPO reported a large-scale operation to uncover corruption in the energy sector - Midas. The organizer of the scheme was businessman Timur Mindich. SAPO stated that Mindic could influence the then Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov. And today NABU detectives interrogated Umerov in the Mindich case.
