A pre-trial investigation has been completed against the director of the Department of Civil Protection and Defense Work of the Kherson Regional State Administration, who purchased low-quality clothing for military personnel. According to the investigation, the Kherson Regional State Administration announced a tender for the purchase of clothing for the military. The tender, due to the collusion of suppliers with a department official, was won by his chosen entrepreneurs who supplied low-quality clothing.

Businessmen bought cheap, low-quality clothes without proper certificates of compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The product only visually resembled a military product. Thus, the state suffered damage of more than UAH 21 million.

The official was dismissed from the Department and accused of official negligence, which entailed grave consequences for state interests. He faces imprisonment for up to 5 years with confiscation of property.

The issue of ensuring compensation for damage caused to the state is being resolved.
