In Ukraine and, in particular, in Kyiv, cases have become more frequent when catering establishments, hotels and other places deny services to military personnel. This causes public outrage, but the official reaction to this is not enough.

Representative of the Ukrainian Navy Dmitry Pletenchuk reported about another such case on his Facebook page.. He and two other officers were not allowed to have lunch in uniform at the Hostel Vshokoladi establishment in Kyiv - the same place where the Navy speaker rented a room while on a business trip.

The girl at the reception said that “the military is dangerous,” and therefore they are not allowed into the establishment.

“In response to my request to let me and two respected uniformed officers have lunch at the establishment, they refuse. When asked to give the manager’s phone number - also refusal and self-confidence.

Is this a personal position or the owners, interesting?

Unfortunately, there is still a part of society that believes that it is possible to stay away from this war. The part that doesn’t want to understand that they have to live with us, and they will adapt to the veterans, and not vice versa. Moreover, we did not choose this war. I'm not even talking about basic respect..

I always try to control myself because my PTSD is a light version of what the stormtroopers went through. But the guys, of course, may have a lot of questions like “was it worth protecting them,” Pletenchuk wrote.

The first reaction of a normal person to such a message is shame. Shame in front of people who are fighting or are closely associated with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, or have already passed this difficult path. And all they deserve from society are the words of the girl from the reception?

Let us remind you that information has appeared in the media more than once about how people in military uniform were not allowed into a cafe or hotel or some other establishment. There are not so many such cases to talk about certain negative trends. And this began not in 2022, during a full-scale invasion, but much earlier - since the time of the ATO. There were long discussions:

does the establishment have the right to do this, can it set its own dress code for visitors Even the ombudsman was involved in this. And we finally came to the conclusion. that military uniform is not a reason for refusal to provide any service or stay in a recreation facility or hotel. Therefore, this should be regulated somehow more strictly, so that “refined” employees understand that refusal to the military is discrimination, and civil, administrative and even criminal liability is established for violation of the requirements of anti-discrimination legislation.
