The Kremlin continues to intensify repression in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, within the framework of the new law on the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation, which comes into force on February 5, 2025, Ukrainians will be prohibited from getting married. This was reported by the Center for National Resistance (CNS). Now Ukrainians who have not received Russian citizenship will not be able to legalize their relations, which is actually another attempt to assimilate the population under Russian laws. As part of this law, from 2025, the expulsion regime will be applied to foreigners and stateless persons who do not have legal grounds for staying on the territory of Russia (including the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine)..

Let us remind you that the occupying Russian authorities in the temporarily occupied Melitopol, Zaporozhye region, are calling on local residents to “Russify” their Ukrainian surnames when changing their passport to a Russian one. In addition, in the temporarily occupied territories in 2025, the occupiers plan to deprive the right of residence of Ukrainians who do not have Russian citizenship.
