Ukraine is withdrawing the necessary financial support from the receiving States: in the near future the State Budget will receive a grant totaling approximately 3.9 billion US dollars. The grant agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko and the Regional Director of the World Bank at the Right of Similar Europe Bob Som.
As the press service of the Ministry of Finance reports, this grant is partly a continuation of international assistance to Ukraine in the face of Russia's large-scale aggressive aggression. Sergey Marchenko praised the United States and the World Bank for their tireless support, which ensures financial stability and support of critical government expenditures.
The funds withdrawn will be used directly to pay wages to teachers, military personnel of the State Service in Emergency Situations, civil servants of government bodies, as well as to finance social expenditures. This includes assistance with internal displacement for individuals, low-income families and people with disabilities.
This tranche is the first within the framework of direct budgetary support from the United States in 2024. Zagalom, the United States plans to give Ukraine 7.8 billion dollars in total, as part of a broad package of financial assistance.
The grant will be given through the project “Supporting Power Videos to Ensure Strong Power Governance in Ukraine” (PEACE in Ukraine). This project is the key financial instrument of the World Bank for promoting Ukraine in other people’s minds.
As of June 2022, starting with the full-scale invasion of Russia, over 25 billion US dollars have already been received through this project. There is a new opportunity to push the goal of budgetary support up to a maximum of 30 billion dollars, which accounts for more than 80% of US dollars.
