In Ukraine, it is temporarily possible to extend the validity of a passport for five years. The Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories explained who and under what conditions can extend its validity during the war.

During martial law on the territory of Ukraine, it is possible to extend the validity of the passport of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad.

It's possible:.

in the absence in the territorial bodies (divisions) of the State Migration Service of Ukraine of the technical possibility of obtaining a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for traveling abroad by means of the Unified State Demographic Register;

in connection with the need for urgent travel abroad, associated with an urgent need for treatment of the departing person, the departure of a person accompanying a seriously ill person, or the death of a relative who lived abroad (when submitting supporting documents).

Validity period of the old passport. with a pasted photograph taken before 2004) cannot be extended.

How to apply for a passport renewal.

An application for an extension of the period is submitted by the person in whose name the passport is issued, personally. The application can be submitted before the expiration of the passport, but not earlier than two months before the expiration date.

The validity of the passport for traveling abroad is extended for five years from the date of application for an extension.



Entering information on the extension of its validity into the passport for traveling abroad is carried out free of charge on the day of the application of the person in whose name the passport is issued, or his legal representative.

to the Center for the provision of administrative services (TSNAP).

Recall that in 2023 Ukrainians will be able to issue a passport and an ID-card in six countries.. Previously, this was only possible in Poland..
