The State Bureau of Investigation, together with the National Police in Dnipro, exposed a gang that, under the guise of territorial defense, was engaged in robbery, the SBI reported.. Seven people were informed of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

“Seven residents of the Dnieper presented themselves as servicemen of the territorial defense of the city and demanded money from their victims. Malefactors in the majority attacked citizens in their places of residence. They tortured the victims, demanding to hand over money and valuable property,” the SBI said..

During one of these attacks, the perpetrators broke down the door and broke into the home of the victims.. They beat the tenants of the apartment and demanded 2 thousand dollars from them.. In the process, the attackers drilled through the arm of the victim with his own screwdriver.. After that, the attackers searched the apartment and took away all the things they liked..

However, the perpetrators never received any money.. Therefore, they tied the hands of the victims, took them to the garages and continued to beat the victims there and demand cash from them..

“After the crimes were committed, the suspects distributed the stolen property among themselves and disposed of it at their own discretion.. As part of the criminal proceedings, 21 searches were carried out, a large number of weapons, ammunition, explosives, belongings of the victims that were seized during the commission of crimes, and evidence of illegal activities were seized,” the DBR added..
