The earthquake in Turkey on February 6 occurred in a seismically active belt, to which Ukraine belongs. Therefore, earthquakes can also occur in the near future, in particular, in Kyiv and Crimea, seismologist Alexander Kendzera told UNN.

" Depends on which earthquake we're talking about. In particular, these earthquakes with sources in the Vrancea zone, with sources in the Vrancea zone, located on the territory of Romania. From these earthquakes, seismic waves come and cause vibrations in Kyiv, Moscow, and St. Petersburg. People remember the strong earthquakes in the Vrancea zone in 1977, 1986 and 1990. They remember how in Kyiv residents ran out of tall buildings into the street, because they were afraid that their houses might collapse,” says Kendzera..

Crimea, meanwhile, has its own seismically active zones, in particular, the southern coast.

“There was such a strong earthquake in 1927 that it actually destroyed the entire coast,” says the seismologist.
