Over the past six days, Russian Internet commentators have claimed that Russian troops have “made significant progress” by breaking through Ukrainian defenses in two areas: in the Zaporozhye region near Orekhov and 100 km to the east, in the Donetsk region near Vuhledar. However, the British Ministry of Defense said that the Russians are spreading disinformation.

Russian units likely carried out local, test attacks near Orekhov and Vugledar, but it is very unlikely that Russia has actually achieved any significant success, analysts say..

“There is a real possibility that Russian military sources are deliberately spreading disinformation in an attempt to show that the Russian operation is gaining momentum,” British intelligence said..

Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine commented on the statements of the Russians about the offensive in the Zaporozhye direction. They noted that the enemy is exaggerating with reports of a global offensive..

Journalist Yuriy Butusov said that the Russian occupation forces launched an assault on the city of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region, which is a strategically important communications point in the south of Donbass and a potential frontier for the future offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces towards the Crimean corridor.
