According to popular belief, the mother of the gods Lada had a daughter, Melanka. One day, when the Month-Prince was on a hunt, a serpent stole Melanka and imprisoned her.. Only the hero Vasily could save her, who later took her as his wife.



It is believed that Malanka-Water comes along with Vasily the Month. The day after Malanka, Vasily is celebrated, and the evening of the holiday is called Vasilyev.

What not to do on Malanka.

On a holiday, you can’t swear, quarrel, wish others harm and use foul language.

You can not lend and count coins.

It is believed that the holiday cannot be celebrated in old and dark clothes.. You can't wear dirty clothes either..
