Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has triggered the largest wave of refugees since World War II, the United Nations Refugee Organization has said, Radio Liberty reports..

“More than 7.9 million people have left the country and another 5.9 million are internally displaced,” said UNHCR Representative in Germany Katharina Lampp.

These 14 million make up more than a third of Ukrainian citizens (approximately 41 million).

Germany's contribution of more than $500 million in support of refugees is second only to that of the United States, Lampp said..

Meanwhile, humanitarian programs for Ukrainians are being completed in some countries, and the refugees of the first wave are forced to temporarily turn into emigrants: independently look for housing and pay for it, look for work, arrange children in kindergartens, schools. Olena Zhezera talks about the current problems of Ukrainian refugees in the article “Ukrainian Refugees Abroad. How are things and what's next?
