The decree signed by the head of the Kremlin on December 26 on the procedure for obtaining Russian citizenship by Ukrainians living in the temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions is null and void and indicates Moscow’s unwillingness to negotiate, the desire of its leadership to continue the war, the absorption of the territory of Ukraine, as well as forced assimilation. This was stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

“The forced imposition of Russian citizenship on citizens of Ukraine who, as a result of Russian aggression, found themselves in inhuman conditions and were deprived of the fundamental right to freely choose citizenship, confirms the criminal nature of the totalitarian Russian regime,” the Foreign Ministry stressed..

The Ministry also noted that the procedure for issuing Russian passports introduced without the consent of the recipients to Ukrainian children and adolescents aged 14 to 18 who were forcibly displaced to Russia, which is a violation of fundamental human rights and another proof of the Kremlin's committing the genocide of Ukrainians, causes particular indignation..

The Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the enactment of this decree, regarding it as another crime of the Russian Federation against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, which grossly violates the Ukrainian Constitution and laws, as well as the current norms of international law and Russia's international obligations..

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the consequences of this and other regulatory acts of the Kremlin in relation to Ukrainians will not have any legal consequences, and will never be recognized either by Ukraine or by the vast majority of UN countries..

Recall, on December 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the procedure for acquiring Russian citizenship by Ukrainians.. We are talking about residents of the temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine.

In the Lugansk region, Russian invaders began a forced process of obtaining Russian citizenship for children. The Kremlin is in a hurry to forcibly passport residents of the temporarily occupied territories of the region.
