The authors of the project " The series of mini-documentaries includes stories about the death of 47 people during the attack on Chernihiv on March 3, the missile attack on the Kramatorsk railway station, where 61 people were killed, and the kidnapping of children from Mariupol, said one of the initiators, Natalia Gumenyuk.

The idea is being implemented jointly with the Institute for War and Peace Reporting and the Public Interest Journalism Laboratory. Ukrainian journalists work in a team with foreign colleagues who have studied the war, in particular, in Syria, Chechnya, Rwanda and Bosnia.

So far there are three films, but over time there will be more.. The beginning of screenings in cinemas in different parts of the country is planned for the beginning of the year. There are plans to also present films in Europe, including Berlin.

In social networks, The Reckoning Project (as the initiative is called in English) collected photo and video testimonies not only from the above cities. Here, for example, footage of the destroyed Kiev region.

“We would very much not want the concept of war crimes to become just words.

I wish this was followed by an understanding of real stories of real people. The overall goal of the project is litigation, but also to attract attention. With screenings, we want to raise a discussion, ”explained Gumenyuk.

She clarifies that the films will not be used as evidence in court.. However, documentation is carried out in such a way that the characters whose testimonies are collected by journalists could also be witnesses in court.. Their testimonies are properly documented.
