The number of people celebrating Christmas on December 25 has grown in Ukraine from 4% to 11% over the year, according to the results of a survey conducted by the Rating sociological group on November 20-21 among a thousand respondents.

The number of people celebrating the holiday on both dates - December 25 and January 7 - increased from 18% to 25%.

At the same time, more than half (55%) of Ukrainians will celebrate Christmas on January 7 (in 2021, this figure was 71%).

8% do not celebrate Christmas at all (most of all among young people, southerners and the capital).

More often, residents of the West, Kyiv, younger respondents and Greek Catholics spoke about the double celebration of Christmas, or the celebration only on December 25.

Recall that in October the synod of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine allowed the dioceses to hold services in honor of the Nativity of Christ in 2022 on December 25. The decision was made on the basis of numerous appeals and many years of discussion around the date of celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
