Due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation and the hostilities in Ukraine, the duration of the winter holidays in schools has changed this year. The timing of the holidays depends on the security situation in the region, the functioning of the infrastructure, and also on whether schoolchildren had an autumn vacation. Thus, institutions of general secondary education (ZOSO) can set and reschedule vacation periods on their own, according to “Nova Ukrainian School”.

Vinnytsia region - in most schools from December 26, 2022 to January 10, 2023, in 124 ZOSO - from December 31 to January 15. However, there are also schools where students will rest until January 22.
Volyn region - from December 24, 2022 to January 15, 2023.
Zaporizhzhia region - holidays will start in most schools from December 24/26 to January 8/9. In the rest of the SOSO - from December 26, 2022 to January 8, 2023. We are talking about 245 schools in Berdyansk, Pohovsky, Vasilyevsky, Melitopol and Zaporozhye districts.
Kyiv region - from December 24/26, 2022 to January 15, 2023.
Lugansk region - in most territorial communities, vacations are scheduled for December 24 to January 8 (Krasnorechenskaya, Troitskaya, Gornaya, Lisichanskaya, Popasnyanskaya, Severodonetsk, Belolutskaya, Starobelskaya, Shulginskaya, Novoaydarskaya and Schastinskaya).
Mykolaiv region - holidays in most schools will begin on December 24-25 and last until January 8. But there is a ZOSO, where the winter holidays will begin on December 29-31 and last until January 24.
Poltava region - the beginning of holidays in different schools ranges from December 5, 2022 to January 2, 2023, the end - from January 8 to January 26, 2023.
Rivne region - winter holidays for schoolchildren will last from December 30 to January 14. In some institutions of general secondary education of the region, which combined the autumn and winter holidays, the terms will be extended.
Sumy region - from December 26, 2022 to January 13, 2023.
Ternopil region - in the region, most schools abandoned the autumn holidays and combined them with winter holidays. In schools that were on autumn holidays, winter holidays will begin on December 30, 2022 and will last until January 15, 2023.
Kherson region - in most schools, vacations are scheduled from December 24/26 to January 8. In other establishments, the rest will last from December 27-31 to January 8-15. Only in one school the holidays are planned for almost a month, from December 25 to January 20.
Khmelnitsky region - the beginning of the holidays from December 7, 2022 to January 2, 2023, the end - from January 8 to January 30, 2023.
Cherkasy region - students in most schools will go on vacation from December 26 to January 15. In 10 schools, the start of the holidays is scheduled for December 19. In 15 institutions, the holidays will last until January 29, 2023.
Chernivtsi region - winter school holidays in most ZOSOs are planned from December 26, 2022 to January 8, 2023.
