The provision of rehabilitation at the expense of the Fund takes place according to the targeted principle - for example, the patient independently chooses a sanatorium-resort institution for treatment.

This mechanism works as follows:.
after providing the conclusion of the medical advisory commission of the healthcare institution regarding the need for rehabilitation in a certain profile, the medical institution notifies the working body of the Fund about the presence of a person on treatment who has indications for undergoing rehabilitation treatment;
the patient is provided with a list of sanatoriums that meet the requirements for the profile of his illness, and he independently chooses a sanatorium-resort institution for treatment;
the body of the Fund coordinates with the sanatorium the availability of free places and a tripartite agreement is concluded between the Fund, the sanatorium and the patient;
the insured person is sent to a sanatorium-and-spa institution for rehabilitation treatment from a hospital in-patient department;
for the period of rehabilitation, the patient’s sick leave is extended, according to which the Fund finances assistance for temporary disability in order to compensate the employee for the earnings lost during the treatment.
