Since the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian Veterans Fund has introduced a one-time support program for veterans and their families who are already doing business. Natalya Kalmykova, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund, spoke about successful cases of this program and how to get help in an interview with Nadezhda Sukhoi “Veterans of War. Support at the level of dignity "
“In fact, each of these stories is especially in its own way.. Most of our applicants are veterans' wives. There is a story that really resonates with me.. It is about the impact of a veteran business that has benefited not only the family, but also society.. This family of migrants from Donbass arrived in the Kyiv region in 2014. They lived in Irpen, then they left there. My wife had a rehabilitation center for children with special needs, which the Russians destroyed during the fighting in the Kiev region. Our funding is one of the puzzles this woman is putting together to rebuild the center.. That is, this is not just a business that the family earns.. Also work for the community.. This is an example of a socially responsible business,” said Kalmykova, talking about successful cases of the Fund’s microfinance program.
Another case - from Mariupol. One of the applicants had his business destroyed in Mariupol, he moved to Ivano-Frankivsk and also received funding from the Fund. Now relaunching his timber business.
“We are inspired by the stories of those who received these payments.. It's not our money, it's taxpayers' money, and we are the tool. It inspires when you see the result, when you are told that you are like a pebble that you can lean on to get up and move on..
We hope that there will be more such stories, because it is also about the renewal of trust in the state,” added the head of the Foundation.
According to Natalya Kalmykova, now every veteran can call the hotline. A veteran or his family can receive a refund of up to 20,000 hryvnia for doing business. Details are available on the Foundation's website..
