Taking into account the results of the online voting of citizens in the Kyiv Digital application, the Kyiv City Council decided to rename 95 streets, alleys and squares that had names associated with Russia or the Soviet past. This was announced by the mayor Vitali Klitschko in Telegram.

" In particular, in the modern Russian-Ukrainian war,"

In particular, General Zhmachenko Street became the street of Prince Roman Mstislavich, Marshal Malinovsky - Heroes of the Azov Regiment, Budarin - Ukrainian Renaissance, Karl Marx - Hutsulskaya, Piterskaya - Londonskaya, Michurin - Marines, Rostovskaya - Lutskaya, and Tulskaya Square - Heroes Square.

Klitschko noted that the decision to change the names is also important to reduce manipulations by the Russian Federation and its influence on the interpretation of the history of Ukraine.

The city council reminded that the new names of streets, avenues, squares and other toponyms were chosen by the townspeople themselves.

A total of 296 objects selected by the expert commission were submitted for rating voting. Residents of Kyiv could choose the names they considered the best from June 15 to 19 in the Kyiv Digital application. The options that received the largest support were sent to the vote of the deputies of the Kyiv City Council.
