By shelling the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the Russian invaders seek to disconnect the station from the Ukrainian energy system in order to later connect it to the Russian one, Energoatom explained.
"
Energoatom assumes that the Russians will continue to work towards achieving this goal, which means that shelling of nuclear power plants, like yesterday, will continue.
Representatives of Rosatom remain at the Ukrainian nuclear facility, who are coordinating a special program to cut off the ZNPP from the energy system of Ukraine through damage to all communication lines by shelling.
“In addition to the destruction of the infrastructure of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, this plan also includes a further complete blackout of the plant with the launch of diesel generators of all power units to ensure cooling of the nuclear fuel contained in all nuclear reactors and spent nuclear fuel pools,” experts explain.
Russia should be prevented from nuclear terrorism by coordinated actions of security organizations, including the UN, the IAEA and the World Organization of Nuclear Operators (WANO), as well as constant pressure on the Russian Federation from the international community to withdraw the military from the ZNPP territory.
“It is necessary to return the ZNPP status of a peaceful civilian object, which it was before the Russian invasion. If this is not done now, then Russia will implement its plan to turn the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant into a military base for nuclear terrorists,” Energoatom emphasizes..
