Due to the war with Russia, gas use has decreased by 40%. Less than expected for the winter may be needed, Minister of Energy German Galushchenko said today on the air of the telethon.

For this reason, the plan for filling gas storage facilities can be increased from the current 12 billion cubic meters to 19 billion cubic meters..

Of these, Naftogaz intends to purchase about 2.7 billion cubic meters of them from imports and 1.8 billion cubic meters from the domestic market.. It is noted that due to the growth of world gas prices, Naftogaz's deficit in preparation for the heating season may amount to 219 billion hryvnias..

The head of the Ministry of Energy also noted that part of the gas can be used to generate electricity, since due to the war there may be problems with the delivery of coal to thermal workers..

Today, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine is ready for the upcoming heating season by an average of 60%. Replenishment of storage facilities with coal and gas is carried out according to the schedule and will allow the country to survive the winter stably. According to him, together with the regional, local authorities and communities, the government is preparing for “all possible scenarios” during the 2022/2023 heating season..
