Vaccination coverage has rapidly decreased due to Russian military aggression in Ukraine. According to the Center for Public Health under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, its level for 6 months of 2022 is less than 40%.

With this trend, by the end of this year, the level of mandatory vaccination will reach only 60% percent, which is not enough to form herd immunity.. According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, for the safety of citizens, it should be at least 95%.

In particular, for 6 months of 2022, out of all children under 1 year old, only:.

29.7% were vaccinated against TB;

23.1% - against viral hepatitis B;

33.9% - against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough;

36.4% - against Hib infection;

33.3% against polio.

The Public Health Center reminded that infectious diseases have not disappeared anywhere, and the war in the country can only contribute to their spread. Any interruption of routine immunization, even for a short period, will increase the likelihood of outbreaks of vaccine-preventable infections. Now the country is already experiencing an outbreak of polio, a high probability of a measles outbreak.

In Ukraine, the vaccination schedule provides for mandatory vaccination against ten diseases: tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, measles, hepatitis B, hemophilic infection, rubella, mumps.

All these vaccines are free for Ukrainians, as they are purchased at public expense..

To avoid outbreaks of infectious diseases in the country, parents of young children who miss vaccinations should contact their pediatrician or family doctor.

Internally displaced persons do not need to conclude a new declaration with a doctor for this. It is enough just to come to the medical facility. Vaccination will be done free of charge, and data on vaccinations will be immediately entered into the unified electronic health system.
