Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk on Saturday warned that residents of non-occupied areas of the Donetsk region will face serious problems with heating this winter due to the large destruction of gas pipelines during the war. She called for the mandatory evacuation of residents of the region before the onset of cold weather..

According to Vereshchuk, at least 200-220 thousand local residents will have to be evacuated from Donbass. On July 29, the government created a coordination headquarters that will organize the evacuation.

" But, unfortunately, the enemy again and again destroys everything that could warm people in winter. No proper power supply. In a word - heat in the Donetsk region Article 33 of the Code of Civil Protection of the Population speaks precisely of such a form of evacuation as mandatory. I believe that this is the responsibility of every adult member of the family.. There are 52,000 children in the Donetsk region, they need to be evacuated, they must not be exposed to mortal danger in the winter without heat, light, without the possibility of heating,"

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that if a person refuses to be evacuated, he will need to sign a waiver stating that he is aware of the consequences and is personally responsible for his life..

According to her, all evacuees will be helped to make IDP certificates and will be given cash payments..

" I ask one thing: evacuate now.

There are corridors, my personal control, we will resettle people, they will not be without warmth and our attention,"

Zaporizhia region, 65% of which has no gas supply, could be next for evacuation, she added..

As reported, almost the entire Ukrainian energy sector suffered heavy losses.. Therefore, Ukraine can receive financial guarantees from the US government for the purchase of gas or use for this purpose the funds that will come to the country under lend-lease..
