Most Ukrainians are ready to vote for Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO if a referendum were held. This is evidenced by the results of a survey of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.

In particular, in the event of a referendum on EU accession, 81% of all respondents would vote for. " Other respondents (15%) would not vote or do not know how to vote.

According to the results of the poll, support is slightly lower in case of joining NATO, but the vast majority of Ukrainians would also vote " 7% of respondents would vote against joining the Alliance, 22% of respondents would not vote or do not know how to vote.

“In terms of the respondents who took part in the expression of will, there would be 96% of the votes in the referendum on joining the EU, and 91% of the votes in favor of the referendum on joining NATO,” sociologists say..

Although there is a downward trend in support for joining the EU and NATO from West to East, at the same time, sociologists note, in all regions of the country the majority of the population would vote for joining both the EU and the Alliance..

Even among residents of the South and East, respectively, 77% and 71% of all respondents would support Ukraine's accession to the EU. Also 65% and 56% would vote for joining NATO.

In addition, according to the results of the survey, the majority of all linguo-ethnic categories of the population of Ukraine support accession to the EU and NATO.. While there is a trend towards lower support among Russian speakers. However, as sociologists note, even among Russian-speaking Russians, support for accession to the EU and NATO prevails significantly: 53% support accession to the EU, 16% do not support. In the case of NATO, 51% support joining the Alliance, do not support - 27%.

Compared to June 2021, the share of those who support EU accession has increased from 52% to 81%.. Also during this period, the proportion of respondents who support joining NATO increased from 48% to 71%.. In the case of accession to the EU, from 19% to 4%, and in the case of NATO, from 24% to 7%, the proportion of those who oppose Ukraine's membership in these blocs has decreased.

If we compare the current mood of the respondents with those before the Revolution of 2013-2014, one can notice an increase in support for EU accession from 47% to 81% (and a decrease from 27% to 4% of the share against accession). In the case of joining NATO in the period before 2013, only 15-20% supported joining this organization (with the majority of the population opposed), while now - 71% support and only 7% oppose.

Sociologists emphasized that Russia’s occupation of Crimea, the outbreak of war in the Donbass, and finally the full-scale invasion of 2022 significantly accelerated the dynamics of views and led the vast majority of Ukrainians in all regions (and all linguo-ethnic categories) to the understanding that Ukraine should become a member of both the EU and.

During July 6-20, 2022, the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted its own all-Ukrainian public opinion poll " The method of telephone interviews using a computer (computer-assistedtelephoneinterviews, CATI) based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers (with random generation of phone numbers and subsequent statistical weighting) interviewed 2,000 respondents living in all regions of Ukraine (except for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea). The survey was conducted with adults (aged 18 years and over) citizens of Ukraine who at the time of the survey were residing on the territory of Ukraine (within the limits controlled by the Ukrainian authorities until February 24, 2022). The sample did not include residents of territories that were temporarily not controlled by the authorities of Ukraine until February 24, 2022 (AR of Crimea,. Sevastopol, certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions), as well as the survey was not conducted with citizens who went abroad after February 24, 2022.

Formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of such a sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.1) did not exceed 2.4% for indicators close to 50%, 2.1% for indicators close to 25%,.

In war conditions, in addition to the indicated formal error, a certain systematic deviation is added. But the results obtained still remain highly representative and allow us to reliably analyze the public mood of the population, sociologists emphasized..
